Home Energy Plan

A home energy plan is a whole-house assessment and prioritised roadmap for your home. It starts with a professional survey, and ends with a clear, phased plan showing which improvements make sense, in what order, and what each one will cost.

What is a home energy plan?

Most homeowners who come to us have been researching for months. They know they want a warmer, more efficient home, but every installer recommends something different. The internet adds options without narrowing anything down. The longer it goes on, the harder it gets to commit.

A home energy plan is an independent, whole-house assessment of your property - not tied to any product or installer. It tells you what your home actually needs, what to do first, and what each improvement will cost. You can act on it all at once, or phase it over several years. The plan works either way.

How it works

1. We survey your home. One of our assessors visits for a two to three hour survey, reviewing over 40 aspects of your home's building condition, insulation, ventilation, and heating. They'll also chat to you about your priorities and concerns, and make sure those are reflected in your plan.

2. We model your home's performance. Using the survey data, we build a digital model of your home and test potential improvements against it. This is how we calculate what each upgrade would actually save you - on bills, carbon, and overall energy performance - rather than relying on generic estimates.

3. You receive your plan. Within one to two weeks, you'll get your Home Energy Plan - a detailed digital document showing your home's current performance, phased recommendations for improvements, and estimated costs and savings for each measure. The phases are tailored to your priorities, budget, and timeline.

4. We walk you through it. Your dedicated retrofit coordinator - the expert who built your plan - calls you to discuss the findings, answer questions, and help you decide which improvements to take forward. There's no pressure to commit to anything. The plan is yours to act on whenever you're ready.

“The home energy plan was the first time we could see on paper: this is a list of things we could actually do, roughly how much it would cost, how effective each thing would be.”

What you get

The Home Energy Plan is a digital document you can download and keep. It includes:

  • A breakdown of where your home loses energy and why

  • Phased recommendations for improvements, organised in the right order for your home

  • Estimated costs, bill savings, and carbon reductions for each measure

  • Guidance on any pre-work needed before improvements can begin

  • A written summary from your retrofit coordinator explaining why each recommendation was made

  • A follow-up call to walk through the plan and discuss next steps

If something you've asked about isn't recommended, the plan explains why - so you understand what to do, what to skip, and the reasoning behind each decision.

Who it's for

A home energy plan makes the most sense if you're near the beginning of your retrofit journey. You know you want to improve your home - make it warmer, reduce your bills, lower your carbon footprint - but you're not sure what to do first.

It's particularly useful if you've had conflicting advice from different installers and want an independent view. Or if you're planning a renovation and want to get the energy side right while the walls are open.

If you already know exactly what you want and just need help getting it done, our design and tender service may be a better starting point.
