We understand how confusing it must be to start making your home more energy efficient, which is why we have written this blog to give you a step by step understanding of what happens at each stage.
At Furbnow, we realise how daunting the process of making your home more energy-efficient can be. To make this process flow smoothly for you, we have built our services in stages to make your home energy project hassle-free; starting from carrying out a survey of your property in order to create a Home Energy Plan, all the way to managing and completing your entire home energy project.
We have written this blog to help you understand how to get started with Furbnow. By using Furbnow, here's exactly what you can expect in your initial stages, before we start managing your project:
Here, we also create an account for you to access your Furbnow dashboard, which is where you will be able to see your Home Energy Plan when it’s completed; your next step would be to get your quote and check out to book your home energy survey as seen in the below image.
Step 2: Fill out your Home Information Form
The next step in your journey is to log into your Furbnow account and fill out your Home Information Form. Once logged in, you’ll see your personalised Furbnow dashboard, which includes a project timeline explaining the current stage of your home energy project. You’ll find the home information form under ‘What’s next’ at the top.
The Home Information Form is used to collect important information about the property that enables us to book and conduct your survey and create your Home Energy Plan - ensuring it’s personalised for your property and household’s needs. Here, we ask for information such as your preferred date for the survey, number of occupants, house type and build, current energy usage, and energy efficiency priorities.
This is your opportunity to let us know if there are any specific measures that you are more inclined towards which you would like us to include in your Home Energy Plan. Don’t worry, if you missed this, you will still be able to share your thoughts during your survey, or during the post-survey consultation call with us.
Step 3: Surveyor visits your property
After we receive your preferred dates for the survey, your Retrofit Coordinator will be notified and confirm a date they’re available too. . You will receive reminders for your upcoming survey as well as the contact details of your surveyor prior to the survey.
The survey will last about 2-3 hours, where the surveyor will focus on making sure they have all the information needed for us to build your Home Energy Plan. A range of measurements, photographs and observations will be collected by the surveyor to record property description, existing defects, ventilation, construction method and its efficiency.
Step 4: Surveyor works on your plan
Once the survey has been completed, your retrofit coordinator will build your plan, this typically takes 2 weeks. Within these 2 weeks, you will also have a consultation call with your retrofit coordinator to work through some finer details and ensure the plan meets your needs.
Step 5: Reviewing your plan and post plan consultation call
Once you’ve received your Home Energy Plan, we’ll give you some time to review it and make a note of any questions that you have. Here is an example of how your Home Energy Plan would look.
We’ll then schedule a consultation call with your retrofit coordinator. During your consultation call, your Retrofit Coordinator will be able to answer any technical questions you have relating to your plan; and the Furbnow team will be able to explain your project options to move ahead with your home energy project.
Step 6: We start your home energy project!
After you have received your project options from the Furbnow team, it’s time for you to decide which measures you would like to begin with. Once that is confirmed and you are okay to go ahead, we are ready to start your home energy project with the Designing and Tendering of selected home energy improvements.
